adb sideload <update.zip>

Sideload OTA / recovery update package

Caution RequiredFlashing incompatible update ZIPs may soft-brick the operating system.
What It Does

Sends and installs a full OTA package or custom ROM ZIP archive to a device booted into Recovery Mode with "Apply update from ADB" active.

Command Syntax
Terminal
$adb sideload <filename.zip>
Usage Examples
$adb sideload ota_update.zip
$adb sideload lineage-21.0.zip
Prerequisites & Requirements
  • Device booted into Recovery Mode
  • "Apply update from ADB" enabled in recovery
